Visiting Fushimi Inari with my Aunt Mary Lou
– Fushimi Inari, Kyoto

This weekend, my great aunt was in Kyoto, so I got to take her on a little trip! We started out in downtown Kyoto right next to the station, so we decided to check out Kyoto tower. The view was pretty amazing, and we had fun using the mounted binoculars at the top. I could almost see my school from there, but it was covered up by the trees inside of the Imperial Palace.

We then headed to Fushimi Inari, the temple which has the orange tori gates for most of the walking path. We did the full loop which takes you to the top, and it took about three hours to complete, but we were moving at a casual pace, exploring all the shops and small shrines on the way. Unfortunately the top is completely surrounded by trees, but we did get a pretty cool view of the city further down. At one of the shops, there was a cute little cat taking a nap.

A weird situation took place that day - when I went to toss my coin into the donation box at one of the temples, it bounced out and onto the ground at my feet, which I believe means bad luck. A little while after, I realized I had misplaced my water bottle, and deduced that I had probably left it on the train. After saying goodbye to my aunt, I checked the lost and found a Kyoto station. They had found it, but I had to take a one hour trip to a different station to pick it up.

Yesterday, I had a blast at Doshisha's treble clef club's new member event (this is a club for joining a band, their groups play mostly anime songs). We had a picnic on Kamogawa, and took a walk to take a photo for the photo contest (we lost to the group who made their kanji out of sakura petals).

Today I did some Japanese studying, did some clothes shopping and got a portable bass amp, and hit the gym with my buddy Alex. Turns out building and hosting your own website is a lot more involved than I had realized. I keep saying "today's the day!" and running into issues... Soon!
