Second Week of School Already Gone
– Doshisha University & Kyotonabe Campus, Kyoto

My second week of school absolutely flew by. I've been enjoying my trips to Kyotonabe, where the southern Doshisha campus is located. It's much quieter down there, spread out, and feels much like a suburb might in the states. The campus is large and wide compared to the one in Imadegawa. Unfortunately, I lost my water bottle down there last Thursday, but luckily it was returned to lost and found and easily recovered! This is the second time I've lost it in Japan, so hopefully I don't turn this into a habit.

I tried my hand at making some fried rice this week, mixing it up by throwing some tteokbokki (spicy Korean rice cakes) in as well, and it turned out amazing! Thanks for the recommendation @kelsealowell Breakfast has remained consistent with toast and jam, scrambled eggs with green onions and kim chi, because I can only eat the same plain scrambled eggs so many times.

I visited a little takoyaki and karaage shop on my way home from the gym a few days ago that was absolutely delicious. Nothing quite like one lemon sour on an empty stomach followed by some fried food. Really hits the spot. Even though the shop was 20 minutes from closing, they allowed me and a couple to stay and eat inside, and even seated a party of four AFTER closing! Goes to show the hospitality and work ethic of the Japanese people.

I went to Dune with my buddies Alex, Yan, Ethan and Anthony. Movie was absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend. The theater also lets you bring in whatever drinks or snacks you want, including alcohol, so that made for a rather fun viewing experience. You can even build a custom bag of candy from the bulk bins before heading in which is pretty cool. And since convenience stores are everywhere, it wasn't hard to grab snacks beforehand!

I went to the live show that the band club I joined was running for their senior students, which is the first video above. They were all really good, and I'm excited to play some J-POP and J-ROCK in a group here. The second video is of the pizza parlor I went to Friday night with some friends, but the music wasn't quite it and we left before even getting to eat pizza since they weren't serving until after the show. Instead, we got some snacks at a conbini and went to a club again, getting in for free after showing our foreign ID cards which was pretty awesome.
Japanese classes have gotten a little easier, but I've been studying more. I plan to catch up on my studies and finally finish that website, but we'll see how that goes haha. Stay tuned for another car club adventure, and whatever I end up doing during Golden Week, which is a period of holidays where everyone is off from school!
